About MergeBell

MergeBell is an independent GitLab app for iPhone and Android, made by one developer, Melih Toksari. It exists to finish the review loop on the phone: see what is waiting for you, read the diff, approve or merge, and retry a failed pipeline, on gitlab.com and on self-managed GitLab.

Why it exists

GitLab Inc. does not make a mobile app. The apps that did exist each covered a slice: some only read, some only notify, some charge for every action, some work with gitlab.com only. The moments that matter, a teammate asking for your approval while you are away from your desk or a deploy failing at dinner, need all of it in one place. How MergeBell compares with the others is in the best GitLab apps for Android and iPhone, which says plainly that we make one of them.

Who makes it

Melih Toksari, an independent software developer. MergeBell is part of Nadril, his portfolio of apps, alongside QueryWatch for Search Console. On the App Store MergeBell is published under his name, and on Google Play under Nadril.

How your data is handled

The token you sign in with stays on your phone. Push alerts come from MergeBell's own server in Germany, which holds a separate read-only key and refuses any key that could write. The security page lists exactly what is stored and which GitLab endpoints the server reads, and delete my data explains how to remove all of it.

How the guides are written

The GitLab guides on this site are written by Melih Toksari. Each one opens with a short answer, lists the GitLab documentation it relies on, and shows the date it was last updated; when GitLab changes, the guide changes with it. They describe GitLab as it works for everyone, and say so when a feature needs a paid tier or a recent version. Where a guide mentions MergeBell, it is because the app does that job on a phone.
